Delhi Capitals Snap Lucknow’s Winning Streak. Delhi Capitals (DC) finally got their season back on track with a convincing six-wicket win over Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) on Friday. This victory ended LSG’s perfect record of defending scores above 160 runs.
Kuldeep’s Return Sparks DC
The hero for DC was their spinner Kuldeep Yadav, returning from injury. He ripped through the LSG top order, dismissing key batsmen like Nicholas Pooran and KL Rahul cheaply. This left LSG reeling at 94 for 7 in the 13th over.
Fraser-McGurk Shines on Debut
However, a spirited fightback from Ayush Badoni and Arshad Khan brought LSG back into the game. They stitched together a record-breaking 73-run partnership for the eighth wicket, taking the score past 160.
Despite the valiant effort, Delhi had the last laugh. Young Australian debutant Jake Fraser-McGurk stole the show with a blistering 55 off just 31 balls. His knock, along with a crucial 41 from skipper Rishabh Pant, ensured DC chased down the target with ease.
Pant Leads by Example
Pant, who has been under pressure due to DC’s struggles, played a captain’s knock. He anchored the chase initially and then provided the impetus with some big hits when required.
LSG’s Early Promise Fades
LSG started well with a fluent opening partnership between KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock. However, Kuldeep’s arrival changed the game completely. The dismissal of their top order left them with too much to do in the later stages.
This win is a significant boost for DC, who were languishing at the bottom of the table. They will hope to build on this momentum in their upcoming matches.
